A Prophecy and Warning

EXCERPTS FROM SERMON OF THE PROPHET JOSEPH SMITH

Documentary History of The Church (DHC) 1:315

"And now I am prepared to say by the authority of Jesus Christ, that not many years shall pass away before the United States shall present such a scene of bloodshed as has not a parallel in the history of our nation (the Civil War began 28 years later, and ½ million died) pestilence, hail, famine and earthquake will sweep the wicked of this generation from off the face of the land, to open and prepare the way for the return of the lost tribes of Israel from the north country (most of the European immigrants came after the Civil War.)

On another occasion in 1832 Joseph had foretold: "Verily, thus saith the Lord concerning the wars that will shortly come to pass, BEGINNING at the rebellion of South Carolina, WHICH will eventually terminate in the death and misery of many souls." D&C 87:1

Fact: US history tell us that Confederate troops fired on Fort Sumter, in Charleston South Carolina, 29 years after he made the prophecy, AND the Civil War began.

From The Parowan Prophet, I am prepared to say by the authority of Jesus Christ, that those people, who do not repent of their false traditions, will feel the fire of hell. Some of those people who have to keep their traditions no matter whatever facts are real, shall have eternal regrets. Some people cannot admit the prophecies of Joseph Smith. Even some church leaders will not admit the "White Horse prophecy." They are like the people who could not find O.J. Simpson guilty. No facts matter. Other denominations will not admit Joseph’s prophecies. They will see hell also. Because they are chained to their traditions, just like slaves. And the won’t believe men who talk with God, not at him. Like most do. I will say that not many days shall pass away before the United States shall present such a scene of bloodshed as has not a parallel in the history of our nation.
